CIRCUMSTANCES OF
DEATH REPORT:
Unit: 7th Canadian Railway Troops Name: Frank W. Hackett Rack: Sergt. Number 2188399 Date of Death: 12-11-17 Cause of Death: Died of wounds At No. 61 C.C.S.; At about
10-30 A.M. on November 11th, 1917, the above mentioned N.C.O.
was engaged on duty with his platoon, when an enemy
aeroplane appeared, dropping bombs in the immediate
vicinity. A splinter from one of these bombs struck the late
Sgt. Hackett in the abdomen, inflicting a fatal wound. He
was taken to the nearest Dressing Station at once where his
wounds were dressed; from there he was removed to the 61st
Casualty Clearing Station, where he died on the following
day. He was buried at Dozinghem Cemetery, and his grave is
suitably marked and registered.
