NOTE 1: Son George, died
02 Oct 1756 in Fort William Henry, New York an English fort
seized and destroyed by the French in 1757. The French under the
Marquis de Montcalm overwhelmed the British and forced a
surrender. The Indians who fought with the French killed many
retreating British, including the sick and wounded. “The Last of
the Mohicans” by James Fenimore Cooper gives an account of the
last days Fort William Henry.
NOTE 2: "Edward Cleaveland migrated early in life from
Woburn, going first to Narraganset Bay, Massachusetts, later
settling at North Kingston, Rhode Island...about 1709 he accompanied his son Edward to Canterbury —-The

NOTE 3: The grandfather of Edward's wife, Deliverance
Palmer, was “Pilgrim” Walter Palmer. According to various
sources Walter has roots into European royalty including
England, Wales, France, Spain, Scotland, Germany, Russia,
Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Walter Palmer is the 9th
great-grandfather of Ida Lou Cleveland.
